This page is directed mainly to Family Practice residents doing rotations on Salt Spring Island and who often have anxiety about working in the ER.
However it is applicable to any doctor working in an ER.
Below are some papers, summaries and videos of how to improve workflow in an ER, the mental mindset of the ER and other topics.
Managing a busy ER is a Canadian paper published back in 2004. The points are as applicable now as they were in 2004 and would suggest as a 'must read' for all FP residents intending to do any ER work in their future.
There is also a copy of "Start of Shift Checklist'.
Last is a lecture by Dr. Reuben Strayer on the 'mind set of the ER physician'.
